Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka says he has harnessed the pain of losing last year's Premier League title

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka said Sunday he has harnessed the pain of losing last year's Premier League title to fuel his performances this season.

The Switzerland international was part of the Arsenal side that finished second to Manchester City in the 2018/19 campaign, and he admits that the experience was a tough one to take.

However, Xhaka says that he has used the disappointment of last season as motivation to improve his game, and he is now determined to help Leverkusen challenge for the Bundesliga title this season.

"It was a difficult moment for me last season," Xhaka told the club's official website. "I was really disappointed to lose the title, but I also knew that I needed to use that experience to make me stronger."

"I've been working hard in pre-season, and I'm feeling really good about my form. I'm confident that I can help Leverkusen have a successful season."

Leverkusen have made a strong start to the season, winning their first two Bundesliga games. Xhaka has played a key role in both victories, and he will be hoping to continue his good form when Leverkusen face Bayern Munich on Saturday.
