Route 73 To Remain Closed Overnight Following Crash That Downed Power Lines: Police

Route 73 Closed Between Tuckerton Road and Woodville Road

MARGATE – Route 73 will remain closed overnight between Tuckerton Road and Woodville Road in Margate following a crash that downed power lines, police said. The crash occurred at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday night, and police said the road will remain closed until at least 6 a.m. Wednesday morning for emergency crews to repair the downed wires.

Police said the crash involved a single vehicle that struck a utility pole, causing the power lines to come down. The driver of the vehicle was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Division with minor injuries.

Atlantic City Electric Crews Working to Restore Power

Atlantic City Electric crews are on the scene working to restore power to the affected area. Police said about 2,000 customers are without power as a result of the crash.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Detours are in place on Tuckerton Road and Woodville Road.
