Darnold Receives 1-Year Deal
Former New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Sam Darnold has signed a new one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
Contract Details
The contract is reportedly worth $10 million, including a $6.25 million signing bonus.
Fully Guaranteed 2022 Salary
Darnold's 2022 salary of $18.858 million is fully guaranteed.
Fifth-Year Option
The contract also includes a fifth-year option, which the Vikings have the right to exercise at a later date.
Vikings QB Situation
Darnold is expected to serve as a stopgap quarterback after the Vikings lost Kirk Cousins to free agency.
Darnold's Recent Performance
Darnold struggled as a starter for the Panthers in 2021, throwing for 3,024 yards, nine touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in 13 games.
Prior to that, he spent the 2020 season with the Jets, where he recorded 2,266 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
