Chester's Payback Tour Continues with Second-Round Win Over PW
Chester Gets Revenge on Ryan in Second Round
The Chester Clippers continued their improbable run through the District 1 5A playoffs with a hard-fought 65-61 victory over the PW Panthers on Friday night. The Clippers, who entered the tournament as the No. 10 seed, have now knocked off the No. 7 and No. 2 seeds to reach the quarterfinals.
Friday's win was especially satisfying for Chester, as it came against a Ryan team that had beaten them by 20 points just two weeks earlier. The Clippers were led by senior guard Keys, who scored a game-high 22 points, including the go-ahead basket with just over a minute remaining.
With the win, Chester advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face the No. 3 seed Chichester Eagles. The Eagles, who won their first Del-Val title in 30 years on Friday night, will be a tough test for the Clippers. But if Chester can continue to play with the same heart and determination they have shown in the first two rounds, they will have a chance to make another run to the state tournament.
